TODAY’S WORD…
.
Jesus said,
“So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them;
for this is the law and the prophets.”
.
– Matthew 7:12

REFLECTION…
.
This is the “golden rule”.
This is the guideline to realise our obligations towards others
and the love we should have for them.
Jesus’ words must not be interpreted superficially,
or it would become a selfish rule.
It obviously does not mean
“I give you something so that you will give me something.”
We should do good to others unconditionally.
After He was asked which was “the greatest commandment in the law”,
Jesus again referred to the law and the prophets
and emphasised the absolute importance of the “golden rule” of conduct
He had replied (Mat 22:37-40)
“You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the great and first commandment.
And a second is like it,
You shall love your neighbour as yourself.
On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”

PRAYER…
.
Jesus, Glorious Son of God, thank You!
Thank You for loving me so much
and for so generously guiding me with Your words and supreme example,
encouraging me to follow Your Law and obey Your Commandments,
and to always seek to love like You do.
My Lord and Saviour, help me be more like You!
