“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Revelation 2:4

..

TODAY’S WORD…

.

“This is what I have against you:

you do not love me now as you did at first.”

.

– Revelation 2:4 (GNT)

REFLECTION…

.

Christ’s words are directed at those of us

who although still faithful to God

are no longer full of fervour as in the past.

Such lack of zeal projects an apparent lack of joy

and, therefore, less fruitful witnessing.

.

Yes, the love for God and neighbour may still be there

but, in some of us, it appears that it may have stopped growing.

.

The more we look at God,

the more we get to know Him and learn of His great and unending love for us,

the stronger the fire that should fill our heart with love for Him!

.

Have we allowed our love for God

to become like that person who was once bright and cheerful

but has now become sad, heavy and sullen?

.

Is our early love for the Lord appearing to grow cold?

.

To avoid this danger, to which all of us are prone,

we need to be watchful and correct ourselves every day,

and return again and again to God our Father.

.

Love of God, love of neighbour,

should never be allowed to die down;

it should always be kept ardent;

it should always be growing.

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

O God, You are so worthy of all love and praise,

of honour and glory!

.

Lord, help me remain ardent in my love for You.

Help me constantly aspire to the perfection of holy love,

so that my love for You may be perfect.

.

My God, I want my love for You to never stop growing,

I want to love You, always,

with all my heart, my mind, my soul, and my strength

– unwaveringly,

and increasingly so!

.

Amen.

.

.

.

SHORT PRAYER FOR TODAY…

.

My God, I want to love You, always,

with all my heart, my mind, my soul, and my strength!
