“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Titus 2:11-12

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

For the grace of God has appeared,

bringing salvation to all,

training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions,

and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled,

upright,

and godly.

.

– Titus 2:11-12 (NRSV)

.

.

.

REFLECTION…

.

God is the source of grace,

which encourages and leads us to live good Christian lives.

That grace has salvation as its goal,

and it is given to us through Jesus Christ.

.

Divine grace as manifested in the Incarnation,

is actively at work to redeem us;

it brings salvation;

it sanctifies us, enabling us to live godly lives;

and it is the basis of our hope in the second coming of the Lord.

.

Jesus is our model;

by means of grace He instructs us

on how to control our defects,

grow in virtue,

and He inwardly moves us to seek holiness.

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

Lord Jesus, God and Redeemer,

my Saviour, Teacher,

Deliverer, King,

I give You praise.
.

I give You thanks, O Lord,

for Your saving grace

and for showing me the way,

through Your own noble example

of unconditional love and sacrifice.

.

Grant, dear Jesus,

that I will always acknowledge You as my Lord,

as the Way, the Truth and the Life,

and that I will never stop looking at You in full faith and trust

as my Mentor,

my Friend,

my Hope

and my Joy.

.

Amen.

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Psalm 90:12

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

Teach us to number our days,

that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

.

– Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

.

.

.

REFLECTION…

.

Only God can provide the wisdom

that lets one make sense of human life, short as it is

and so often marked by toil and trouble.

.

So, like the psalmist, we believers should ask God

to teach us to look at each day as if it is the last.

We should look at every day of our lives

as an opportunity to get to know the Lord better,

to acknowledge His goodness and love,

to trust in Him more,

and to seek to do His will – in all that we do.

.

Every day is precious,

and it becomes truly meaningful

when we stop and make time to dedicate to the Lord,

to learn from Him,

and to follow His promptings on loving and helping others.

.

.

.

QUOTE…

.

“Time is a treasure that melts away.

It escapes from us,

slipping through our fingers like water through the mountain rocks.

.

Tomorrow will soon be another yesterday.

Our lives are so very short.

Yesterday has gone and today is passing by.

But what a great deal can be done for the love of God

…in this short period of time!”

.

– St. Josemaria Escriva

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

Lord,

I lift all my days up to You.

Grant that I will live every day for You,

in the manner You want me to.

.

Lord,

I acknowledge that every day is a gift from You,

and I pray to Your Spirit to guide me

on how to make the best use of it

and to make it an offering of love to You.

.

Open my ears, Lord,

that I may hear You counselling me.

Open my eyes, Lord,

that I may see You in those who need my love and help.

.

Here is my hand, Lord,

lead me…every day.

.

Amen.

.

.

.

REPETITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY…

.

Lord, thank You for the treasure of today. Lead me!

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Numbers 6:24-26

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May the Lord let His face shine on you

and be gracious to you.

May the Lord uncover His face to you

and bring you peace.”

.

– Numbers 6:24-26 (JB)

.

.

.

REFLECTION…

.

Such a meaningful blessing

– so deep, so touching.

.

It cannot be otherwise,

because its author is the Lord Himself!

.

This is the special blessing

that the Lord instructed Moses to pass on,

for His people to be blessed with.

.

This special blessing

was written in God’s Book – for posterity

…and so that all future generations of believers

could similarly bless their loved ones,

with faith and hope in their hearts,

with this very powerful prayer.

.

We should make it our daily prayer

over our loved ones!

.

.

.

SPECIAL PRAYER OVER OUR LOVED ONES…for Today…and for Every Day…

.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May the Lord let His face shine on you

and be gracious to you.

May the Lord uncover His face to you

and bring you peace. Amen..

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Colossians 3:12-15

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves,

you must clothe yourselves with tender-hearted mercy,

kindness, humility,

gentleness, and patience.

.

Make allowance for each other’s faults,

and forgive anyone who offends you.

Remember, the Lord forgave you,

so you must forgive others.

.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love,

which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.

For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.

.

And always be thankful.

.

– Colossians 3:12-15 (NLT)

.

.

.

REFLECTION…

.

Is God’s word telling me something that really applies to me?

Have I read it well?

Am I listening to His prompting?

.

Most importantly,

do I intend following His advice

and try to live and think and act like a good Christian?

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

Tender-hearted mercy,

kindness,

humility,

gentleness,

and patience.

Come Holy Spirit and mould my character

and change me

– make me more like Jesus.

.

Holy Spirit, fill me with altruistic love

and grant that I will gladly share the peace of Christ

with every person I meet.

.

I praise You Holy Spirit

and I thank You with all my heart.

Stay with me, Holy Spirit of God!

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – 1 John 1:8

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

If we say that we have no sin,

we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.

.

– 1 John 1:8 (GNT)

.

.

.

TEACHING…by St. John the Evangelist…

.

St. John wants us Christians to live in a way consistent with our faith

and he therefore encourages us to live in an upright way.

He exhorts us all to avoid sin.

.

“Now the message

that we have heard from His Son and announce is this:

God is light, and there is no darkness at all in Him.

.

If, then, we say that we have fellowship with Him,

yet at the same time live in the darkness,

we are lying both in our words and in our actions.

But if we live in the light — just as He is in the light —

then we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from every sin.

.

If we say that we have no sin,

we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.

But if we confess our sins to God,

He will keep His promise and do what is right:

He will forgive us our sins

and purify us from all our wrongdoing.

.

If we say that we have not sinned,

we make a liar out of God, and His word is not in us.”

.

– 1 John 1:5-10

.

.

It is one thing to acknowledge that we are sinners

and to be conscious of our frailty;

it is a very different matter to become completely passive or pessimistic,

as if it were not possible to avoid offending God.

.

We must never forget

that Jesus knows and understands our weakness

and draws us lovingly to Himself.

He is always there, ready to forgive the humble and contrite heart.

.

“I am writing this to you, my children, so that you will not sin;

but if anyone does sin,

we have someone who pleads with the Father on our behalf

— Jesus Christ, the righteous one.

And Christ Himself is the means by which our sins are forgiven,

and not our sins only, but also the sins of everyone.”

.

– 1 John 2:1-2

.

.

.

QUOTE…

.

“If you confess yourself to be a sinner, the truth is in you:

the truth is light.

Your life does not yet shine as brightly as it might,

because there are sins in you;

but now you are beginning to be enlightened,

because you confess your iniquities."

.

– St. Augustine

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins,

and detest them above all things,

because they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus Christ

and, most of all, because they offend Your infinite goodness;

and I firmly resolve, by the help of Your grace,

never to offend You again,

and carefully to avoid the occasions of sin.

.

Amen.

.

.

O my God, I am sorry. Forgive me Lord.

.

– Psalm 103:1 (NLT)

.

.

.

QUOTE…

.

"Praise the Lord

with all that you are yourselves,

If we never stop living a good life,

we praise the Lord unceasingly”.

.

– St. Augustine

Son of the Most High,

my heart lifts You up,

my lips proclaim Your blessedness,

My Lord of Lords

and Prince of Peace,

all that is within me gives You thanks

for all Your mercies,

but especially for the gift of faith

and the great promise that You bring,

.

Grant, O Lord, the grace

my mind,

my soul,

will together and always gladly reflect

the faith, hope, love, joy and peace

that only You bring.

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Luke 19:10

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

Jesus said,

"The Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost."

.

– Luke 19:10 (NRSV)

.

.

.

REFLECTION…

.

Jesus’ ardent desire is to seek out and save sinners

and His declaration fills us with hope of attaining eternal salvation.

.

He came into this lost world to seek and to save it.

He looks out especially for those who are not seeking Him

and who are not asking for Him.
.

But whenever and wherever Christ comes

He opens hearts,

and He inclines them to receive him.

Those whom He calls hear Him,

but He leaves it up to them to humble themselves

and to receive Him joyfully

and to turn to Him gladly.

.

.

.

QUOTE…

.

“I will seek the lost,

and I will bring back the strayed,

and I will bind up the injured,

and I will strengthen the weak,”

.

– Ezekiel 34:16

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

Sweet Jesus,

You chose to become one like us,

to save us

and to take us back to the Father.

.

Lord Jesus,

You came to call us all to You,

to draw us away from our self-centeredness;

from our self-destruction.

.

From the day You were born,

You showed us the way,

You taught us the truth,

and You lived the life You wish us to follow.

.

Lord, I have heard You calling

– You never give up on me.

I have heard You encourage me

and tell me not to be afraid.

.

Jesus, without You I am lost.

I thank You for coming to me,

for seeking me out and saving me.

Thank You for being my light in the darkness.

Thank You for all that You do for me.

.

Now that I have found You, Lord,

please give me the grace to never let You go.

.

Amen.

“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – John 1:1-5,9-14

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

The Word became flesh

and made His dwelling among us.

.

– John 1:14 (NIV)

.

.

.

A BEAUTIFUL REFLECTION…by St John the Evangelist…

.

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

.

Through Him all things were made;

without Him nothing was made that has been made.

In Him was life,

and that life was the light of all mankind.

The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness has not overcome it.

.

The true light that gives light to everyone

was coming into the world.

.

He was in the world,

and though the world was made through Him,

the world did not recognise Him.

.

He came to that which was His own,

but His own did not receive Him.

Yet to all who did receive Him,

to those who believed in His name,

He gave the right to become children of God

–children born not of natural descent,

nor of human decision or a husband’s will,

but born of God.

.

The Word became flesh

and made His dwelling among us.

.

We have seen His glory,

the glory of the one and only Son,

who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

.

– John 1:1-5,9-14

.

.

.

QUOTE…

.

“The great “gift” of the Child of Bethlehem:

He brings us a spiritual energy,

an energy which helps us not to despair in our struggle,

in our hopelessness,

in our sadness,

for it is an energy that warms and transforms the heart.

.

Indeed, the Birth of Jesus brings us the good news

that we are loved immensely and uniquely by God,

and He not only enables us to know this love,

He also gives it to us,

He communicates it to us!”.

– Pope Francis

.

.

.

PRAYER…

.

God of love, Father of all,
the darkness that covered the earth
has given way to the bright dawn of Your Word made flesh.
.

We praise and thank You

with great joy and hope in our hearts

as we behold His glory,

and are bathed in His divine radiance.
.

Lord God, make us a people of this light.
Make us faithful to Your Word,
that we may bring Your life to the waiting world.
.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
