TODAY’S WORD…
.
Guard me, O Lord, as the apple of Your eye;
hide me in the shadow of Your wings.
– Psalm 17:8

REFLECTION…
In Hebrew, the term “the apple of the eye”,
in the diminutive and endearing sense, means, literally, ‘the little person of the eye’,
signifying the miniature picture one sees of oneself, in the pupil of the eye,
when looking into another person’s eye.
Therefore, I am the apple of God’s eye
…when He concentrates His gaze on me.
It is also because I myself am so close to God,
that my image is mirrored in His loving eyes.
Isn’t that beautiful!
…
The ‘wings’ – God’s wings – are the manifestations of His love,
Here, the psalmist has in mind the magnificent eagle,
which hides its young under its wings, intimately and lovingly protecting them.
When I hide myself beneath God’s wings, – in their shadow –
I am provided with tender comfortand intimate security,
as well as loving protection from my outward or inward conflicts.
…
How wonderful it is to have faith
and to be able to exclaim,
“Guard me, O Lord, as the apple of Your eye;
hide me in the shadow of Your wings.”
PRAYER…
Guard me, O Lord, as the apple of Your eye;
hide me in the shadow of Your wings.
As I hide in the shadow of Your wings
I am kept as the focus of Your eyes.
The knowledge and beauty of You
engulfs me
…soon to be revealed.
Amen
