5 May 2013 – John 14:23-24

TODAY’S WORD…
.

“All who love me will do what I say.

My Father will love them,

and we will come and make our home with each of them.

Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me.”

.

– John 14:23-24 (NLT)

REFLECTION…

.
When we hear Christ telling us,

“All who love me will do what I say”

do we, who claim to love Him, reflect deeply enough on those words?

Can we truly claim that we do what He tells us to?

.
Christ tells us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves (cf. Mk 12:21).

Do we?

.
Christ also warns us about the vile things that defile us:

evil thoughts,

sexual immorality,

theft,

murder,

adultery,

greed,

wickedness,

deceit,

lustful desires,

envy,

slander,

pride,

foolishness (cf. Mk 7:20-23).

Do we take heed of His warning?

Do we admit our weaknesses?

Do we sincerely ask Jesus to help us overcome them?

Or do we often tend to seek to justify them?

.
“Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me.”

Do I truly love Jesus

…or don’t I?

.
.

PRAYER…

...
My Jesus,

I so want to love You

with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.

.
Jesus,

I so want to do what You say,

because I know that You love me,

and I also know that Yours is the only truth

…and the only way.

.

Lord,

strengthen my faith,

and my resolve to show that I truly love You

by faithfully doing what You say

and obeying You in every way.

.

For this I pray. Amen.

.
.

REPETITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY…
.

My Jesus, I so want to love You!

.
.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013.
FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…
.

[…] Jesus Christ…is “the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.”

It is by looking to Him in faith

that Christ’s faithful can hope that He Himself fulfills His promises in them,

and that, by loving Him with the same love with which He has loved them,

they may perform works in keeping with their dignity […]

For to me, to live is Christ. (Phil 1:21)
