“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Ezekiel 34:15-16

TODAY’S WORD…

.

I myself will tend my sheep

and give them a place to lie down in peace,

says the Sovereign Lord.

.

I will search for my lost ones who strayed away,

and I will bring them safely home again.

I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak.

.

But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful.

I will feed them, yes – feed them justice!

REFLECTION…

.

God makes Himself a shepherd for His people;

He always looks out for them, neglecting none.

But He is also just,

and so, not only is there divine love and mercy,

but also condemnation of the wicked.

.

Jesus, in His role as Messiah and Saviour,

becomes the Shepherd who assembles all mankind to lead it to salvation.

At the multiplication of the loaves,

He gathers those who have followed Him "like sheep without a shepherd"

and nourishes them with bread and with the word of His teaching.

QUOTE…

.

“He stands guard over us when we are awake and while we sleep.

If an earthly flock is safe in the vigilant care of a human shepherd,

how much more secure are we, who have God as our Shepherd,

not only because He desires to teach and help us,

but because He is our Creator.”
