TODAY’S WORD…

Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?

REFLECTION…

.

When, for whatever reason, deep inside we feel discouraged, downcast, depressed…

then, like the Psalmist, we should speak to our soul

and encourage it to place all its hope in God, our Saviour.

.

In spite of our feelings, we are determined to praise Him.

We are reassured by our faith

that the Lord is near to those who are discouraged;
and that He saves those who have lost all hope. (Ps 34:18)

.

Our loving God cannot remain impassive in the face of our cries for help.

Jesus Himself tells us:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”(Mat 11:28-30)

.

When we make His mercy, truth, and power, our refuge

then we are reassured that the God of our life, and the Rock of our salvation, will not forget us.

We must cling on to Him as we struggle against our despondency

and the Lord will help us control our doubts and fears.

As we entrust ourselves to God

and allow Him to lead us,

we know that…in His time…we shall overcome.
