TODAY’S WORD…and PRAYER
.
Your Word, Lord, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.
Your faithfulness continues through all generations;
You established the earth, and it endures.
Your laws endure to this day,
for all things serve You.
.
The unfolding of Your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple.
.
Make Your face shine on Your servant
and teach me Your decrees.
.
Let me live that I may praise You,
and may Your laws sustain me.
.
– Psalm 119:89-91,130,135,175 (NIV)

REFLECTION…
.
The Word of God endures forever;
God has created all things
and He sustains them in being.
.
An open heart welcomes and receives God’s word
and as it penetrates, it is absorbed,
and there will exist an indescribable understanding
which fills and sustains the spirit of man
with the light of the Truth…which is God!
.
.
.
REPETITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY…
.
Shine on me Lord, and fill me with the light of Your word.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013
FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…
.
The inspired Books teach the truth.
"Since therefore all that the inspired authors or sacred writers affirm
should be regarded as affirmed by the Holy Spirit,
we must acknowledge that the books of Scripture firmly, faithfully, and without error
teach that truth which God, for the sake of our salvation,
wished to see confided to the Sacred Scriptures."(Dei Verbum)
.
[CCC 107]
.
.
Still, the Christian faith is not a "religion of the book."
Christianity is the religion of the "Word" of God,
a word which is "not a written and mute word, but the Word which is incarnate and living". (St. Bernard)
.
If the Scriptures are not to remain a dead letter,
Christ, the eternal Word of the living God,
must, through the Holy Spirit, "open [our] minds to understand the Scriptures."

[CCC 108]
