TODAY’S WORD…
.
One of [the ten lepers who had asked Jesus to have pity on them], saw that he was healed,
he came back, praising God in a loud voice.
He threw himself to the ground at Jesus’ feet and thanked Him.
The man was a Samaritan.
.
Jesus spoke up,
“There were ten who were healed; where are the other nine?
Why is this foreigner the only one who came back to give thanks to God?”
And Jesus said to him,
“Get up and go; your faith has made you well.”

REFLECTION…
.
It is good to look back from where we are today
to see if there were occasions when we prayed desperately to God
for some grace or other
…and then when all went well, we never bothered to stop and thank Him!
.
Taking God for granted?
If we recall such situations, we should readily admit them to Him
as we seek God’s presence and fall down on our knees to thank Him.
.
It is not that God will have held such indifference against us,
it is just that it makes Him sad to see His children so lacking,
because that often denotes a very shallow degree of faith.

QUOTE…
.
“Get used to lifting your heart to God, in acts of thanksgiving, many times a day.
Because He gives you this and that.
Because you have been despised.
Because you haven’t what you need or because you have.
.
Because He made His Mother so beautiful, His Mother who is also your Mother.
Because He created the sun and the moon and this animal and that plant.
Because He made that man eloquent and you He left tongue-tied…
.
Thank Him for everything, because everything is good!”

PRAYER…
.
Almighty Father,
Your love for me…I will never fully understand; ,
Your patience with me…I will never be able to thank You enough for;
Your limitless generosity in forgiving my repeated failings…overwhelms me.
.
I am not worthy, Lord,
yet You are full of mercy
and so generous with Your grace and blessings.
.
Thank You for all You have done in my life,
and for all that You have given me or chosen not to give me.
Thank You for all that I have or have not.
Thank You especially for Your Holy Spirit – my Comforter and Consoler.
.
I love You, Lord.
I thank You, Lord.
I praise You, my God.
.
Amen.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013
FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…
.
Every joy and suffering, every event and need can become the matter for thanksgiving
which, sharing in that of Christ, should fill one’s whole life:
“Give thanks in all circumstances.”(1 Thess 5:18)
.
[CCC 2648]
.
.
Prayer of praise is entirely disinterested and rises to God, lauds him,
and gives him glory for his own sake,
quite beyond what he has done,
but simply because HE IS.
