“a Lamp to my feet. a Light for my path.” – Psalm 139:1-10;23-24

TODAY’S WORD…and PRAYER of AFFIRMATION…

.

Lord, You have examined me and You know me.
You know everything I do;
from far away You understand all my thoughts.
.

You see me, whether I am working or resting;
You know all my actions.
Even before I speak,
You already know what I will say.
You are all around me on every side;
You protect me with your power.
Your knowledge of me is too deep;
it is beyond my understanding.

.

Where could I go to escape from You?
Where could I get away from Your presence?
If I went up to heaven, You would be there;
if I lay down in the world of the dead, You would be there.
If I flew away beyond the east
or lived in the farthest place in the west,
You would be there to lead me,
You would be there to help me.

.

Examine me, O God, and know my mind;
test me, and discover my thoughts.
Find out if there is any evil in me
and guide me in the everlasting way.

.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013

FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…

.

God calls man first.

Man may forget his Creator or hide far from His face;

he may run after idols or accuse the Deity of having abandoned Him;

yet the living and true God tirelessly calls each person

to that mysterious encounter known as prayer.

.

In prayer, the faithful God’s initiative of love always comes first;

our own first step is always a response.

As God gradually reveals himself and reveals man to Himself,

prayer appears as a reciprocal call, a covenant drama.

Through words and actions, this drama engages the heart.

It unfolds throughout the whole history of salvation.
