20 May 2013 – Mark 9:24

.

TODAY’S WORD…

.

“Lord, I believe;

help my unbelief!”

.

– Mark 9:24 (NKJV)

.

REFLECTION…

.

If we are true people of faith

then we do not rely on ourselves,

but on Jesus Christ.

.

Faith is a gift of God,

which we, especially at times when we are wavering,

should ask humbly and persistently,

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”,

and like the Apostles, who said to Jesus:

“Increase our faith!” (Lk 17:5)

.

. .

PRAYER…

.

Lord, I do have faith,

but not enough.

Help me have more.

.

Lord, I love You,

but I need to love You more.

.

Lord, I need You,

but I need to trust You more.

Lord, I want to do Your will,

but I need to listen to You more.

.

Lord, I believe;

help my unbelief,

increase my faith!

.

.

.

REPETITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY…

.

Lord, increase my faith!

.

.

.

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013

FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…

.

Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man.

We can lose this priceless gift, as St. Paul indicated to St. Timothy:

“Wage the good warfare,

holding faith and a good conscience.

By rejecting conscience,

certain persons have made shipwreck of their faith.”(1 Tim 1:18-19)

.

To live, grow and persevere in the faith until the end

we must nourish it with the word of God;

we must beg the Lord to increase our faith;

it must be “working through charity,”

abounding in hope,

and rooted in the faith of the Church.
