TODAY’S WORD…

.

Jesus said,

“As the Father has loved Me,

so have I loved you.

Now remain in My love.

.

If you keep My commands,

you will remain in My love,

just as I have kept My Father’s commands

and remain in His love.

.

I have told you this

so that My joy may be in you

and that your joy may be complete.”

REFLECTION…

.

Christ’s love for us

is a reflection

of the love the Three Divine Persons have for one another

and for all mankind:

"We love, because He first loved us" (1 Jn 4:19).

..

The certainty that God loves us

is the source of Christian joy,

but it is also something which calls for a fruitful response on our part.

This should take the form of a fervent desire to do God’s will in everything,

that is, to keep His commandments,

in imitation of Jesus Christ,

who did the will of His Father.

PRAYER…

.

Lord Jesus,

You proved Your love for me

when You died on that cross

to save me.

.

Lord,

I fervently desire to do Your will,

to obey Your commandments,

and to follow Your example.

.

Grant that I may remain in Your love,

so my soul can rejoice

and delight in Your Truth

.

For this I pray. Amen

YEAR OF FAITH 2012-2013FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…

.

Jesus makes charity the new commandment.

By loving His own "to the end,"

He makes manifest the Father’s love which He receives.

By loving one another,

the disciples imitate the love of Jesus which they themselves receive.

Whence Jesus says:

"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you;

abide in my love." (Jn 15:9)

And again:

"This is my commandment,

that you love one another as I have loved you." (Jn 15:12).
